Bakbone to demonstrate Enterprise-class features of Netvault 7 at Storage Expo 2003 Sweden

Mariehamn Finland - September 17, 2003 — With only seven days to go until the start of this year’s Storage Expo show in Stockholm, BakBone has announced that it will be demonstrating advanced functionalities of its flagship backup and recovery software, NetVault 7 at the show which is held in conjunction with Networks Telecom 2003.

BakBone will be demonstrating the key features of NetVault which set it apart from more conventional backup software solutions. These include:
- NetVault’s flexible disk-to-disk backup strategy, which allows users to quickly backup their data to a pseudo library on disk and then migrate it off to tape for long-term retention. BakBone will be demonstrating this with the help of a StorageTek L40 library.

- NetVault’s recently-introduced Application Plugin Modules™ for NDMP Snap Mirror to Tape and SnapShot Manager, which were developed to support Network Appliance® environments. BakBone will demonstrate this using a Network Appliance® F825 filer.

- NetVault’s recently announced client software for Macintosh environments. As such, BakBone is now the only backup and recovery software vendor to offer truly heterogeneous support for enterprise computing environments with mixed operating systems. Support for Macintosh now complements NetVault’s support for Windows, Unix, Linux and Novell.

- NetVault’s Advanced Policy Management and Event Notification which provides data management with multiple protection options for enterprise computing environments.

- NetVault’s User Level Access which allows NetVault administrators to safely extend control of NetVault to other end users.

- NetVault’s Advanced Reporting which allows reports to be created on all aspects of the NetVault system including job execution, media utilization and system operations. No other product offers the comprehensive reporting capabilities for its backup and recovery operations. In addition to the twenty-nine pre-defined reports, users can define their own reports including powerful correlations from NetVault’s data gathering engine.

Several of our customers have noted the drastic reduction in time required to not only back up but, more importantly, restore their data when safeguarded in this manner."

BakBone’s Application Plugin Module™ SnapMirror to Tape (SM2T) provides additional data protection to Network Appliance® SnapMirror environments. NetApp® SnapMirror mirrors mission-critical data from a primary site to a remote, secondary site. In the event of a site-wide disaster, SnapMirror delivers fast access to the most up-to-date copy of the data.

The NetVault APM™ provides additional disaster protection by simplifying and automating the process of copying the mirrored data to tape media for offsite storage, thus minimising business interruption and catastrophic data loss.
