New protein identification service company on Funen, Denmark

The Danish Biotech company ACE BioSciences A/S announced today the establishment of a daughter company called Alphalyse A/S. Alphalyse is a service company providing research institutes, biotechnology and pharmaceutical companies with a fast, reliable and sensitive protein identification service.

ACE BioSciences has a unique technology platform for isolation and identification of proteins in pathogenic microorganisms to find new targets and develop therapeutics for infectious diseases. Alphalyse uses a small part of this validated platform to offer a service in protein identification based on mass spectrometry. The technology platform has been developed at ACE BioSciences and has already shown its sensitivity and efficiency on more than 50.000 samples in ACE BioSciences.

- Alphalyse offers a service that is in demand world wide and has a large market potential, said Christian Hodal, CEO of Alphalyse A/S. After entering the market we expect a turn over of 10-15 million Danish Kroner a year, and with relatively few competitors on the world market today, Alphalyse will soon become a success.

- ACE BioSciences has chosen to separate this service segment in a daughter company because we have a well functioning technology platform on which we can make high quality protein identification, said Ejvind Mørtz, CEO of ACE BioSciences A/S. We provide only a minimum of resources to Alphalyse, and we keep our focus on discovering and validating targets for new treatments of infectious diseases. In the foreseeable we expect Alphalyse to have its own employees and its own premises.

- We have attached great importance to make the set up of Alphalyse professional and fully functional from the beginning, said Christian Hodal. We have developed an integrated system, where we can follow the sample from the order confirmation to the invoice printing. The costumers have access to the Alphalyse website with explanations of principles of the analysis and the results. All identifications are based on searching databases stored in house and this secure that all samples are handled confidentially. The databases are updated weekly and the costumer will always have access to the newest information about the analysed protein. All in all this makes it possible for Alphalyse to offer the best available analysis quality and high service standards.
