IDC Announces New Vertical Market Research Tool for Nordics

With the need for accurate information on vertical markets in the Nordic region significantly increasing, IDC has announced a new tool, the "Vertical Market Map Cube," to help vendors and users understand how vertical industries are adopting IT products.

Over the past few years, the verticalization of IT products and services has become one of the most fundamental and important drivers in the industry. Vendors, from providers of smart handheld devices to IT services providers, have increasingly seen the need to provide products that are designed and implemented for specific vertical industries. At the same time, IT users are stating that vendors’ knowledge of their industry is one of the most important decision criteria for selecting a vendor.

This market development is now supported by IDC Nordic with the most extensive and accurate vertical market map database available for the Nordic countries.

The Vertical Market Map Cube provides a complete breakdown of the market through the following dimensions:

- 10 industries
- 30 IT vendors
- Three product segments
- Four Nordic countries

This means that the database contains 3,600 data points that users and vendors can use to determine questions such as:

- How competitive is the environment in a specific industry?
- Which market segments are growing the fastest?
- How does an industry differ among the four Nordic countries?

"Information on markets and competitors is increasingly how companies compete in the IT industry, and the Vertical Market Map Cube is a unique tool for creating market strategies," said Per Andersen, managing director, IDC Nordic.

The Vertical Market Map Cube is delivered with the following "IT Opportunities: Vertical Markets 2003–2008" research studies:
