Allied Telesyn Achieves 113% Growth in LAN Switch Market
Allied Telesyn´s growth is three times the EMEA LAN switch market over the same period
IDC´s ´Western European LAN Switch 2004 Vendor Shares´ report has today revealed global provider of end-to-end Ethernet/IP solutions Allied Telesyn´s market share has risen by an impressive 113% compared with the previous year. Allied Telesyn´s market share, measured in port shipments, has grown from 1.28 million in 2003 to 2.73 million in 2004.
Allied Telesyn´s growth was three times the EMEA LAN switch market in general, which over the same period, grew by 36.5% to a total of 58.2 million ports in 2004, compared to 42.6 million ports in 2003. Revenues also began to grow again following two years of decline and the total Western European LAN switching market is now reported to be worth in excess of $4.2 billion.
- 2004 was a dynamic year in the Western European LAN switch market, with organisations increasingly replacing fast Ethernet LAN switches with Gigabit Ethernet LAN switches for desktop connectivity, explained IDC´s Senior Research Analyst, Peter Hulleman. - Most vendors were able to increase their market share in this segment, however the growth of Allied Telesyn and D-Link was most notable.
- In 2004 we aggressively promoted our LAN switching solutions, so the results of this report are very pleasing, added Allied Telesyn´s International Marketing Director, James White. - How businesses use their networks has now progressed, so in 2005 we will be pushing our Gigabit Ethernet switches designed to meet the needs of today´s high performance networks.
Allied Telesyn offers a full range of standalone, stackable or chassis-based Layer 2 -Layer 4 and Multi-layer switches. Designed to provide high-performance, multi-layer switching for desktops, workgroups and core connectivity, these switches feature speeds from 10Mbps Ethernet to 10/100 Fast Ethernet to 1Gigabit Ethernet (1Gpbs), and are suitable for all sizes and types of networks.
