Artek re-introduces Double Coffee Table no 907
As part of the new strategy, Artek, the internationally known and recognized quality design brand, re-introduces Double Coffee Table no. 907 taken from their founder and most famous designer Alvar Aalto´s archive. Although it has not been in production since the 1940s, the elegant low table with its clever magazine storage shelf fits easily into contemporary homes, foyers or lounge areas.
The coffee table is Aalto´s first table design using the same construction as the classical Stool 60.
70 years after it was first shown in London´s Fortnum & Mason department store, Artek are reissuing Aalto´s innovative L-leg coffee table. The coffee table´s two-tier design is unique in Aalto´s output and unusual in construction. The lower tier is suspended from the tabletop so that it appears to float. The delicate appearance is enhanced by the difference in thickness between the top and the slender tray beneath it. The table has the same revolutionary L-leg construction as the classical Stool 60. The seemingly simple L-legs is made from bending solid birch wood into a right angle so that it can be fastened to the seat of a stool or tabletop without the need for a complex joinery. The Finnish architect considered the L-leg his most important invention in furniture design.
Dimensions: diameter 60 cm (table 907C) or 75 cm (table 907B), height 56 cm
Material: Birch, natural lacquered or honey.
Can also be ordered with a curly birch top, depending on curly birch availability.
