AWL and Imerys plan to optimise slurry production in Sweden

AWL Scandinavia AB, subsidiary of IMCD Group BV, The Netherlands, and Imerys Mineral AB have the intention to transfer AWL’s slurry plants in Uddevalla and Gävle from AWL to Imerys.

The plants will be operated by Imerys without changes, and all employees will be offered continued employment. AWL and its supplier partners will continue to utilise a large part of the available capacity. AWL and Imerys will continue to market kaolin separately and totally independent.

Per Svending, Sales Director Imerys Mineral AB:

“We need additional capacity for storage and make down as we expect our kaolin market in Sweden to grow over the next few years. Gaining access to AWL´s slurry plants will improve our general flexibility and our ability to efficiently handle the increasingly popular spray dried products. An acquisition of AWL´s slurry plants will help us locally to live up to the high expectations our paper industry customers have placed on Imerys as a pigment to paper supplier."
