innovaphone AG equips Meinl Bank with Voice-over IP solution
Austria´s Longest-Standing Private Credit Institute Banks on State-of-the-Art Communications Technology
Since the introduction of the revised international capital framework, "Basel II", banks are facing increased demands for secure documentation. The Meinl Bank therefore decided not only to introduce a voice recording system, but also to switch their entire communications infrastructure from traditional to IP telephony.
The VoIP solution provided by the Sindelfingen-based IP specialist innovaphone was installed at the three major branches of one of Austria´s most renowned private banks, the Meinl Bank, in Vienna, Graz, and Linz. Because of its decentralized infrastructure, the bank was predestined for a VoIP solution, as the entire in-house telephony can now be conducted free of cost over the Internet protocol (IP). The installation included a voice-recording solution by ASC which is perfectly compatible with the hardware provided by Sindelfingen-based innovaphone. Compared with a traditional solution, the IP-based PBX offers a clear reduction of costs after only six months, as expenses for lease and maintenance are saved. "A conventional solution would have left us dependent on a particular manufacturer and a service team," says Ekkehard Preis for the Meinl Bank in Vienna, "with the IP solution, we can handle the administration ourselves."
The ASC voice-recording software EVOip fully supports the convergence standards H.323 and SIP, as do all innovaphone products. EVOip records incoming phone calls on the server´s hard disk. Recordings can be searched and played via a secure connection over the Internet. Thus, these important evidence data are accessible anytime, anywhere - as required by Basel II.
innovaphone expects the potential of IP-based solution to become increasingly relevant for banks and credit institutes. "Particularly banks with many small branches and subsidiaries profit greatly from the cost advantages of IP-based communication. In addition to this, Basel II makes higher technological demands on credit institutes, demands that can easily be met with a consistently standard-based PBX," explains Gerd Hornig, head of distribution at innovaphone.
