Danish company keeps Facebook cool
The Danish firm Novenco is to deliver fan cluster for Facebooks new big data centre in Luleå in Sweden
The Danish Company Novenco has signed a million dollars contract and are to deliver axial flow fans based on the ZerAx Fan to Facebooks new big server park in Luleå in Sweden.
For the first time Facebook is building outside the US and the company chose Luleå in Sweden as a building sight because of its closeness to the polar circle and the possibilities of using natural cooling of the enormous data centre.
To keep the server park cool, Facebook has chosen the Danish company Novenco, a world leader in the market of high efficiency and low energy fans. The company has a unique product in their ZerAx fan and the CEO of Novenco; Steen Rasmussen sees great business potential in the area of server parks:
’What we deliver to the Facebook server park in Sweden, there will be a demand for in the coming years: high efficiency and low energy cost ventilation systems. We hold that unique product that can keep these huge data centres cool at a low cost and that is why Facebook has chosen us’, says CEO Steen Rasmussen and points to the fact that the more clicks on the internet the more need for server parks. This is the reason why even US companies as Google, Microsoft and now Facebook are building or looking to build large data centres around the world.
