Conference to set off digital momentum in Iceland

Copenhagen, November 17, 2011 - Iceland's Minister of Economic Affairs, Árni Páll Árnason will open the DIGITAL MOMENTUM conference taking place on Friday, November 18, 2011 at the Icelandair Hotel Reykjavík Natura in Reykjavík, Iceland.

DIGITAL MOMENTUM is a conference exploring how to connect public institutions and private companies in efficient, digital work processes.

Gartner, the leading it research and advisory company, and other international and local speakers will bring inspiration to creating a digital e-procurement marketplace for the Icelandic public/private business community, thus facilitating valuable benefits to society.

Background
Considering the current economic outlook, Iceland as well as Europe as a whole has a great desire for making the most of efficient technology and collaboration across society. Iceland needs a digitized business community that can facilitate effective e-procurement and digital sales processes as well as cost reductions.

However, the synergies from a common solution that unites public institutions and private companies have yet to make their way in Iceland. But the demands for a solution are strong among municipalities, governmental institutions and Icelandic businesses, some of which also have considerable amounts of international activities. Hence, dialog and concrete solution proposals are needed.
