Allied Telesis Announces New 24-Port PoE Fast Ethernet WebSmart Switch

AT-FS750/24POE provides power over Ethernet together with two SFP 10/100/1000T Combination Gigabit Uplinks and Port Trunking.

Allied Telesis, a global provider of secure Ethernet/IP access solutions and an industry leader in the deployment of IP Triple Play networks over copper and fiber access infrastructures, today announced the launch of the AT-FS750/24POE, its new 24-port Power-over-Ethernet (PoE) Fast Ethernet WebSmart switch with 2 SFP 10/100/1000T combination Gigabit uplinks for fiber connectivity. 12 of the AT-FS750/24POE's 24 downstream ports can provide PoE for low-power devices, such as VoIP phones and security cameras, which can be connected directly to the network cable without a local power source. Customers have the choice of 6 ports at full 15.4W power or 12 ports at 7.3W power. The new AT-FS750/24POE combines the simplicity of unmanaged switches with easy-to-use, web-based management functionality to provide a cost-effective and hassle-free solution for the edge of the network.

Key Management Features Out of the Box
The AT-FS750/24POE supports port trunking, enabling multiple ports to operate together and provide higher bandwidth between the switch and another networking device. This feature provides a high-performance pipe and is especially useful for reducing the over-subscription ratio on the Gigabit uplink. The new WebSmart switch also offers port mirroring to facilitate the diagnosis of network problems. With its support for port-based and tagged (IEEE 802.1Q) VLANs, it can segment the network into workgroups to supply better performance as well as additional security. The AT-FS750/24POE delivers excellent Quality of Service (QoS) with four priority queues, enabling companies to deploy the switch in networks with mixed voice, video and data traffic.

With its support for the IGMP protocol, the AT-FS750/24POE enables companies to more efficiently manage resources for high-bandwidth video applications and manage membership of IP multicast groups. Other standards supported by Allied Telesis' new switch include STP and RSTP (Spanning Tree Protocol and Rapid Spanning Tree Protocol). These protect the network against link failures by providing it with redundant links. Last but not least, the AT-FS750/24POE offers excellent security with its support for IEEE 802.1x user authentication in conjunction with a RADIUS server, ensuring that only authorized users are permitted access to the network.

Allied Telesis' AT-FS750/24POE is available now from Allied Telesis offices and distributors. Its list price is $599 / €499.
