BakBone Software joins EMC nas partner program
NetVault 7.0 Qualified with Celerra Product Line
Stockholm, Sweden — October 21, 2003 — BakBone Software™ (TSX: BKB, OTCBB: BKBOF), a global provider of data backup and recovery software, today announced that it has successfully qualified NetVault 7.0 with EMC Corporation’s (NYSE: EMC) Celerra network attached storage (NAS) product line, and joined the EMC NAS Partner Program. The strengthened alliance will enable customers to implement NAS-based backup and restore applications more effectively with NetVault’s award-winning software combining the highest levels of customer support and application availability.
BakBone will offer enterprise IT organizations the ability to extend the value of their storage management investments through the qualification of NetVault with EMC Celerra. The collaboration between the two companies will better serve joint customers while also helping to reach new ones.
“BakBone is pleased to be working closely with EMC to provide customers seamless, scalable solutions with advanced data protection and storage management flexibility," said Andrew Bowles, director of Strategic Alliances for BakBone Software. “The extensive testing associated with the EMC NAS Partner Program provides real value for our mutual customers. The result is a storage solution that lowers total cost of ownership (TCO) and delivers industry-leading data protection through NetVault and Celerra."
“Through BakBone’s participation in the EMC NAS Partner Program, each company is able to provide higher levels of customer service and support because of direct access to engineering and customer services resources," said Paul Brown, senior director of Global Alliances at EMC. “The availability of NetVault for Celerra enables seamless interoperability between products and leverages the technology expertise of both companies. Customers are able to deploy Celerra with NetVault quickly, reliably and cost-effectively."
The NAS Partner Program builds on EMC’s already extensive interoperability efforts to develop and deliver products and solutions that work together with third-party products. The collaboration between BakBone and EMC provides pre-tested data management and protection solutions that enables enterprise and business class customers to protect mission-critical data across heterogeneous (UNIX, Windows, Linux) and NAS environments. The resulting efficiency dramatically reduces storage administration cost, enhances access to application data and improves backup and recovery flexibility.
The combination of NetVault with EMC Celerra is easier to use, reduces training, and offers improved application data availability. Specifically, NetVault is built upon an advanced modular architecture that gives IT managers the flexibility required to support continued growth and rapidly incorporates new enhancements as information storage needs expand and change. Whether an IT manager is managing a few servers or a multi-site networked storage environment, NetVault delivers enhanced data protection and enterprise-class functionality that scales to meet the demands of any size environment. NetVault for Celerra is available immediately. More information is detailed at http://www.emc.com/partnersalliances/partner_pages/bakbone.jsp.
