Allied Telesyn Provides Patients With a Line Back to Health

Networking Vender Supplies 66,000 Patients With Their Communication and Entertainment Needs

Allied Telesyn, the trusted end-to-end networking solutions vender, today announced that 66,000 patients are now enjoying the benefits of bedside TV, radio and telephone thanks to its Fast Ethernet and Layer 3 Rapier switches and specialist broadband solutions supplier Tripleplay Services via installation of the innovative Patientline console.

Patientline works in partnership with NHS Trusts to deliver a range of focussed solutions designed to reduce hospital staff workload and thereby improving patient care. It is the market leader in offering bedside communication and entertainment services.

Tripleplay Services provides system integrators, technical project management, technical design experience and specialist software products aimed at allowing industry to realise its broadband potential.

"The Tripleplay, Patientline and Allied Telesyn solution will supply television, telephony, content and Internet capabilities to the bedsides of up to 66,000 patients over the next three years," comments Steve Rickless, Managing Director of Tripleplay Services.

The Patientline console has been extremely popular since being developed in response to the Government´s NHS Plan published in July 2000, that called for all major hospitals to have televisions and telephones at patients´ bedside by the end of 2004. "There are indications that such services improve patient recovery times thus minimising the length of stay in hospital and ensuring more beds are available more quickly," explained Rickless.

"It is thoroughly rewarding to be involved in a solution such as this that makes patient´s stay in hospital all the more comfortable," added James White, Marketing Director at Allied Telesyn. "The success of the Patientline implementation has also opened the door to a plethora of similar implantations in other facilities such as hotels or colleges."
