U-Box from R&M: New Platform for Cabling Systems

U-Box offers quick installation of power, data, and network connections in one simple system. A universal solution for small distributors in raised floors, false ceilings and wall mounting.

Reichle & De-Massari AG (R&M), the specialist developer and manufacturer of components and cabling solutions for enterprise networks, has launched U-Box, a universal platform for cabling systems. The new installation box facilitates the quick implementation of small distributors, and it allows power, data and communications connections to be installed in a few steps.

In developing the U-Box, R&M focused on greater efficiency for network planners and installers, easy handling, high packing density and flexible application options for many media connections. The result is a cabling solution that is unique in the market, and its modular principle makes infrastructure installation quick and easy.

The U-Box is appropriate for false ceilings, cable trays and distribution cabinets, or it can be placed in wall ducts or even inside office furniture. U-Box comes with interchangeable fronts allowing a mix of connection modules to be inserted. For instance, a U-Box supports up to 16 Cat. 6 jacks, or eight data and four power connections - or 20 RJ45 interfaces for telephone networks. It offers options for copper cabling with lateral cable entry and it also allows up to eight fiber optic connections.

A U-Box is 57 mm high box and measure 21 x 21 and its plastic housing resists pressure of more than 200 kilos. U-Box can be assembled without tools by snapping the connection modules into the fronts. Spacers, mounting, separation and guide elements are easily terminated and plugged in or out, and a rotary knob locks the cover.

With U-Box, every connection point can be assembled on site, helping to bring down time and cost when implementing new systems. Alternatively, R&M can deliver pre-terminated boxes.

The U-Box solution enlarges R&M’s Extended Office Cabling program (EOC) and can be combined with the R&Mfreenet cabling system
