Demand for 10G Data Networks Doubles in a Year

Reichle & De-Massari leads the market in both shielded and un-shielded 10G network solutions. Technological excellence ensures reliability of R&M solutions.

Reichle & De-Massari AG (R&M), the specialist developer and manufacturer of components and cabling solutions for enterprise networks, continues to experience massive growth in the sales of 10 Gigabit Ethernet data networking components. The company reports that demand has almost doubled in the past year.

R&M first launched its products for 10 Gigabit Ethernet networking in 2000, supplying a complete solution for shielded Cat. 6/Class E data networking, and since 2005 its 10G UTP range has been available. Originally introduced as the STARsystem, the STAR Real10 product line is part of the R&Mfreenet cabling system. R&M guarantees that any network configured with this solution can connect to 10 Gigabit Ethernet without any additional expense.

"Content, commerce and communication services for businesses require more bandwidth, shorter response times, absolute availability and service quality. For many network managers the answer to this challenge is 10 Gigabit Ethernet, where products are widely available, and to a large extent the standards have been established," explained Justin Bewick, R&M Sales Director in the UK.

Operationg networks with 10 Gigabit Ethernet requires technologically advanced performance from the components of the cabling system. 10G networking involves high frequency technology with a transmission bandwidth of up to 500 MHz. Components for this kind of performance on copper cabling must be protected well against any outside interferences, and a high-quality production process is crucial.

R&M’s STAR Real10 range comprises unshielded (UTP) and shielded (FTP, STP) solutions based on twisted pair copper cabling with RJ45/Cat. 6 connectors. The entire product range complies with the IEEE 802.3an standard and offers unrivalled margins on a number of key parameters. Last year it was announced that the respected Danish test laboratory 3P, has issued five current certificates for different channel configurations confirming the performance capability of the STAR Real10 range.

He adds that R&M are recognized as the supplier with the widest 10G product range, covering a wide scope of market requirements. A good example is the unique WARP technology, which R&M introduced in 2005, bringing the advantages of shielded technology to unshielded networks. A large number of networks have been implemented using R&M’s UTP solution which may be used immediately for a 10 Gigabit Ethernet application. This is ideal for network managers keen to retain UTP systems for reasons of compatibility.
