Flexible backup option

Sandberg is now launching a flexible solution offering a quick and easy way to connect many different types of hard disk externally via USB 2.0. You can use it for backups, transferring data to a new computer, extra disk space and lots more. It is a quick and straightforward solution that uses the "one size fits all" principle to make your life easier in many different ways. You can even hot swap hard disks while your computer is switched on.

You can use the Sandberg USB All-In-1 Hard Disk Link to connect many different types of hard disk to USB, allowing you to instantly save and retrieve data or create backups. You are not tied to particular standards or dimensions – whether your hard disk is IDE or SATA, or 2.5" or 3.5", you can simply connect it directly to your computer’s USB port. Basically, the electronics from the traditional hard disk enclosures have been moved to the adapter. This solution is far quicker and easier than installing the hard disk inside the computer.

Hard disks containing backups can easily be left in a drawer or a fire-proof cabinet without requiring special protection. That is why they are so useful as a backup medium that you update every so often and store away from the computer. The flexible adapter makes it easy to change the hard disk, so you can keep extra backups on separate hard disks – even if they are very different types. Because the setup is somewhat "raw", this solution cannot be recommended as a permanent daily external solution.

But the main advantage of the USB All-In-1 Hard Disk Link is its flexibility – using any computer with USB and virtually any type of hard disk, you can transfer data or create a backup without worrying about drivers etc. This is what Plug and Play should be all about.

Sandberg USB All-In-1 Hard Disk Link is compatible with 2.5" and 3.5" IDE hard disks and SATA I and SATA II. This means you are fully covered.

The connectors on the adapter consist of 1 x SATA, 1 x IDE for 2.5" and 1 x IDE for 3.5" hard disks. The adapter cable is 50 cm long and has 2 USB A male connectors for data transfer and power. The extra USB power connector is sufficient for IDE 2.5" hard disks, but if you are using IDE 3.5" or SATA hard disks, you should use the enclosed power supply instead.
