Roaming the streets of Rome, Mobatar distributes money for its first ad campaign
When you walk down a street, can you imagine seeing a person distributing money instead of flyers? It´s quite odd to think who would do such a thing. Mobatar would. In fact, they are actually going to.
Mobatar S.r.l (www.mobatar.it), an Italian mobile advertising start-up company, is distributing 5 cent coins along with small notes to each and every pedestrian they encounter.
Why on earth are they doing this?
This campaign mirrors the company´s service - which is to grant its users 5 cent per SMS advertisement they receive on their mobile phones. Now instead of doing it virtually, Mobatar is taking it to the streets of Rome.
"Our company is new and innovative, with an infinite amount of ideas and possibilities", says Rubina Singhsachathet, Mobatar´s marketing manager. "There is no point for us to give our money to companies who would then advertise for us, as others traditionally do. Our service is about giving money to people, and that´s exactly what we´re going to do", she adds.
The notes that resemble text messages have written on them, "Those who say money doesn´t bring happiness clearly haven´t been using Mobatar", is the advertisement, and the 5 cent that accompanies each of them represents the amount a user would receive online.
This is not only Mobatar´s first marketing campaign, but it will be the first message they send out as well.
Mobatar will engage with this campaign on June 15, 2008, in Rome´s center, at Piazza del Popolo and then through the famous shopping street - Via del Corso.
If you walk down a street and you receive 5 cent instead of a worthless flyer, you may smile to its oddness. And then you would realize, money does bring happiness. Mobatar was right.
