SMC Networks Adds Edge-Core Range to Product Portfolio in Europe and Nordics

Barcelona, 10th August 2009 - SMC Networks (www.smc.com), a leading provider of LAN hardware and broadband connectivity devices, today announced that it is extending its product portfolio by offering Edge-Core products through its distribution and VAR channel across Europe, as well as delivering Edge-Core products to existing Edge-Core channel partners.

SMC Networks, like Edge-Core, is part of the Brand Division business of Accton Technology Corp of Taiwan. SMC Networks has been expanding its portfolio of products from Home and Small Office connectivity and internet access to Small/Medium Business (SMB) and Enterprise sector networking solutions. As part of its on-going development of solutions for specialist and high-bandwidth applications, SMC Networks is adding the Edge-Core range of products which are focused primarily on switching solutions for growth markets such as Surveillance, VoIP, Fibre-to-the-Home and triple-play. SMC and Edge-core can now offer end-to-end solutions for Enterprises and Service Provider markets.

In the Nordic area, the addition of the Edge-Core range enhances SMC’s ability to offer solutions for infrastructure and service provider projects across the region. SMC recently announced the appointment of new distributors in the Nordics and will be adding new Partners for both its SMC and Edge-Core portfolios during the autumn of 2009. Country Manager for Nordics and Baltics, for SMC and Edge-Core, Patrick Thornqvist, says: I am particularly excited by the penetration we will gain in the Nordic Region with the Edge-Core product. The characteristics of our markets in the Nordic region are especially relevant for the solutions on offer via Edge-Core and we are already starting work on projects with existing partners and talking to prospective partners for the Edge-Core range.
