New EliteConnect™ Wireless Access Point from SMC Networks Offers High-Speed Networking and Versatility for Businesses
SMC Networks (www.smc.com), a leading provider of LAN hardware and broadband connectivity devices, today announced the launch of the dual band, single radio EliteConnect™ Wireless Enterprise Access Point (SMCE21011), a versatile and manageable solution for building 802.11n wireless networks that deliver data speeds up to 300Mbps.
The SMCE21011 is ideal for companies that want to achieve high performance data transmission and increased wireless coverage across the enterprise, incorporating a host of features that allow network administrators to adapt easily to high-bandwidth applications, office reorganisations or simply an increase in users:
Versatile coverage
The dual band functionality of the SMCE21011 allows administrators to choose whether to operate in the in the 2.4GHz band or reduce congestion in densely populated areas by choosing the lesser used 5GHz band. The SMCE21011 also features three MIMO antennas that can be detached and upgraded to High-Gain antennas for those customers that require their wireless range to be extended even further.
Easy to manage
The SMCE21011 also supports up to eight Virtual Access Point (VAP) interfaces, enabling administrators to react more efficiently to office reorganisations and changes in network requirements by separating traffic for different user groups. Each VAP can be configured with its own Service Set Identification (SSID), security settings, VLAN assignments, and other parameters.
Flexible power options
The SMCE21011 can also be deployed in the most difficult to reach locations in any building. Support for the 802.3af Power over Ethernet standard means that the device can be easily deployed in areas where power outlets are not readily available.
Quality of Service
Unique in a product of its type, the SMCE21011 includes support for SpectraLink Voice Priority, making it the ideal choice for businesses that require the best Quality of Service in cost-saving voice applications deployed over their wireless LAN.
Thierry Gonon, General Manager for EMEA at SMC Networks, comments: “When businesses are planning ahead, especially during tough economic times, it is important for them to be able to think about how they can grow their infrastructure flexibly without the risk of significantly increasing their overheads. This latest Wireless Access Point in the EliteConnect range is the perfect solution for companies that want to get the best from their network at the most reasonable cost, however much their circumstances may change. “
