A question of dynamics: Putting an LP on CD with MAGIX

Revitalization of vinyl records begs the question – is it still worth it to transfer an LP on CD? While CD sales have been dropping for years, the LP has experienced a surprise Renaissance. One of the most important music magazines was able to report that in the US market, sales of newly produced LPs increased over the previous year by 89%. In Germany too, the largest European music market, sales have increased annually since 2006 by nearly 100,000 albums sold to the current level of 900,000 pieces. "Even if this is normally a niche market, this is proof: Vinyl lives," states Dr. Ulrich Hepp, MAGIX Senior PR Manager. "For many people, the audio advantage is important, and this can be attributed to the dynamic character of analog audio media. The compression of recordings that play on modern devices often leads to a blurring of different volumes and more quieter passages. Vinyl recordings feature more dynamics, and this can be detected more easily, which in turn makes the recording sound more interesting."

Digitizing with MAGIX: Transferring a cassette or an LP on CD or DVD

Since the sound quality of LPs is influenced by a long sequence of components, a little more effort is required to keep audio shortcomings in check. For this purpose, IT specialist MAGIX offers Rescue your Vinyl and Tapes, a solution that connects the audio advantages of analog recordings with the convenience of the digital medium. This digitizing package includes:

- A USB pre-amplifier as a connection between the PC and the turntable or cassette recorder
- The Audio Cleaning Lab program for recording, editing, and burning the analog material

The package is not only suitable for vinyl fans but also for music cassette nostalgics and audiophiles in general. Now the dynamics of analog recordings can be combined with the conveniences of digital music and enjoyed by everyone: Remove crackling and popping sounds, transfer to mobile devices, clearly laid-out management, etc. In spite of the resurgence of vinyl, transferring an LP on CD is still worth it to be able to enjoy the uncontested convenience of digital music
