Karen Harding winner of Your Country Needs You 2010
A recent poll among professional bookmakers has revealed that 18-year-old Karen Harding will be the singer going to Oslo to represent the United Kingdom in the Eurovision Song Contest. –There is great interest in this year’s final. Forecasting is in full swing and many have already placed their bets on the outcome, says Hakan Klingén, founder of www.nicerodds.co.uk.
Today the UK final will take place, six acts are competing and it will be broadcast by the BBC. The finalists are Alexis Gerred, Esma Akkilic, Josh Dubovie, Karen Harding, Miss Fitz and Uni5. A professional jury will then select the top three, who will perform several different versions of the British song for 2010: ´Not Your Love´ written by Peter Waterman and Mike Stock. Peter Waterman has created over 200 hits, including 22 number one singles in the UK. TV viewers will determine the final winner.
Josh Dubovie runner-up
According to the poll 7 out of 7 bookmakers think Karen Harding from Durham will be the winner of this years national competition. The same poll predicts that the runner-up in the contest will be Josh Dubovie. – Although Karen is only 18 years old, she is already a seasoned professional performer, and after winning the North East competition ´Music Means Life´ in 2008, has performed all over Britain. Winning ´Your Country Needs You 2010´ would of course be the big break in Karen’s career, Hakan Klingén continues.
“It pays to compare the odds"
– As usual there is a big advantage to be gained by gamblers who take a minute to compare bookmakers´ odds before placing their bets. Right now the greatest odds on Karen being the winner are 2/1, whilst the minimum are 3/2. Even greater differences in odds can be found for those who want to bet on Esma Akkilic, Miss Fitz or Alexis Gerred as winners. The most generous bookmaker will pay 17 times the money if Esma Akkilic wins – as compared with 15 times the money for the lowest paying bookmaker. These huge differences are not just seen in musical events, but also occur in betting on sports, politics and finance. This is why comparing odds online, before you bet, has become increasingly popular, Hakan Klingén concludes.
