Eurotech launches Aurora Au-5600, the green petascale supercomputer based on the latest Intel® Xeon® 5600 series processor
Eurotech today launched Aurora Au-5600, the next-generation supercomputer for Green Petascale computing.
This announcement follows Intel’s introduction of Intel Xeon 5600 series processor and makes Eurotech one of the first market leaders to release an HPC platform based on it. This achievement is the last success in a series of joint launches made available by a strong collaboration between the two companies.
Based on the latest Intel 32 nm processors processor and relying on the cutting-edge, liquid cooled Aurora design, the new Aurora Au-5600 brings the efficiency and power of the 32nm architecture to the HPC domain.
“Aurora has always been a clear leader in terms of capability, TCO and optimal resource use" said Giampietro Tecchiolli, VP and CTO of the Eurotech Group. “The new 6-core Intel Xeon 5600 series are a perfect match for the Aurora architecture, bringing new levels of performance while further reducing the total power requirement footprint".
Aurora Au-5600 benefits from the liquid cooling solution that Eurotech has designed for its HPC family, enabling unprecedented levels of density and reliability.
“Aurora HPC systems are liquid cooled and this brings exceptional savings on the electric bill," said Walter Rinaldi, Aurora Product Manager. “With a coolant inlet temperature that can be as high as 40C, Aurora is one of the greenest HPC systems available today".
“Choosing the latest Intel® Xeon® 5600 series processors proves Eurotech’s ability in offering always solutions at the leading edge. The new features of the 32 nm processors provide incredible levels of performances and processing speed, reaching an efficiency extent able to respond with immediacy to all types of application", comments Luca Romani, Regional Channel Manager Intel Italy & Switzerland
Aurora is the ideal choice for installations of any size: its noiseless operation and high density make it possible to fit the power of a datacenter right at the side of the user’s desk, while its scalable and efficient design enable the deployment of a Petascale facility in a fraction of the space and with operating costs that are significantly lower than for traditional HPC solutions.
