* Oracle has today announced that ,which creates and orchestrates global supply chain networks that design, build and deliver electronic products for its customers, has seen a reduction of 44% in infrastructure server costs by deploying Oracle technology in the Amazon Elastic Compute Cloud.

* Advanced Innovations is able to provide a unique global supply chain orchestration service to businesses through a combination of Oracle’s Agile Product Lifecycle Management, Oracle Database 11g Enterprise Edition, Oracle SOA Suite, Oracle WebCenter Suite and Oracle enterprise collaboration software.

* Advanced Innovation’s migration of Oracle technologies to the Amazon Elastic Compute Cloud began in 2009, as the company sought to lower the cost of delivering an outsourced product lifecycle management (PLM) environment to its globally dispersed customers.

* The solution has enabled Advanced Innovations’ customers to take their product concepts and move them through development and certification, and into mass volume production. Customers are typically software companies that need electronic hardware as the platform for their core product, OEMs that are introducing electronics into their (non-electronic) products or smaller organisations that wish to aggregate demand for electronic hardware in order to compete head-on with Tier 1 competitors

* By providing product design, certification and manufacturing partners and supply chain and transportation partners with web-based access to live product delivery environment, Advanced Innovations can globally orchestrate the rapid launch of a new product.

* Today, Advanced Innovations has in place a highly scalable, dynamic global infrastructure to manage the complete lifecycle projects, without the need to buy, install, configure or provision any additional servers.

* With anchor operations in Ireland, the UK, the US, China and India, customers of Advanced Innovations benefit from:

- o Collaboration: a highly collaborative environment for all stakeholders to share ideas and remain updated on a project. For instance, the production team is immediately alerted to any changes made by an engineer to a CAD/CAM document hosted in the Advanced Innovations workspace, and how each change can impact delivery deadlines.

- o Increased profit: enhanced forecasting and increased profit margins, with the ability to assess dynamic and complex production costs from a global network of partners, suppliers and manufacturers.

- o Secure and reliable access: secure and reliable web-based access to all project information, including design records, patent files and financial information.

* Adding access rights for new users to project-related applications and systems was previously a lengthy task that took days. It now takes as little as 28 minutes to update a complete active directory for a new customer on the public cloud, as Oracle’s technology ensures that all infrastructure changes are seamlessly orchestrated across all systems, applications and processes.

* By June 2010, the company plans to host all of its operations in the public cloud and will continue to work in partnership with Oracle Consulting through a blended on and off-shore delivery model throughout the project.

Supporting Quotes

* “In the manufacturing industry, speed to market is a key differentiator and Advanced Innovations is leading the industry in helping smaller companies to rapidly design and launch globally successful products. However, this has only been made possible through the company’s unique business model. By deploying Oracle technology in a public cloud, Advanced Innovations has significantly reduced the cost of provisioning a highly dynamic product lifecycle management environment to its global customer base. We look forward to working closely with Advanced Innovations over the coming years in delivering further efficiencies to the way it manages hundreds of projects at any one time," said Paul O´Riordan, Country Leader, Oracle Ireland.

* “Our customers need the ability to rapidly, efficiently and cost-effectively launch new products. Our strength lies in providing customers with these abilities. However, delivering a complex product lifecycle ecosystem such as ours does present significant challenges in terms of storing information and managing such a global network. With our unique business model, we needed to work with a company that could identify our needs and help lower our costs. Oracle was able to deliver on this and more. The breadth of solutions meant we were able to deal with just one company to deliver an infrastructure that will allow our business to continue to grow," said Michael Higgins, Senior Vice President, Advanced Innovations.
