IT workers blamed for one of Britain’s top fashion crimes
A new consumer survey has put another nail in the coffin of the reputation of IT professionals for being stylish. The “IT Geek" look, specifically the mix of formal business shirts worn with shorts has been chosen as one of the top 10 male fashion sins.
Online fashion store Very.co.uk asked 3,000 men and women across the UK what they think are the worst fashion faux pas carried out by men. Dubbed the “IT Geek" look, wearing shorts with a business shirt was voted by the people surveyed as the 8th worst fashion crime.
The survey highlights the difficulty in dressing for business in hot weather.
Men were also surveyed on their own fashion and shopping habits. Over 25% of men surveyed admitted to buying comedy clothing – funny t-shirts, ties and socks – another clothing style that many people will recognise from their IT departments.
Steve Jones has been announced as ambassador for Very.co.uk ´Goodsouls´ menswear collection launched at http://www.very.co.uk in June. The ‘GoodSouls’ range hopes to be the saviour of struggling men with a collection of casual streetwear featuring jumpers, shirts, suits and jackets to spice up men’s wardrobe with an effortless injection of style.
Steve Jones’s appointment is a call to action for all men to take more interest in what they wear and how they wear it.
