Apica Attracts New Venture Capital for International Expansion

The Swedish IT company Apica has attracted SEK 9m (EUR 1m) in new venture capital from the Swedish vencap firms ALMI Invest and KTH Chalmers Capital. The fresh capital will be used primarily to speed up the roll out of Apica and its web performance products on the international market.

Apica´s product suite tests, analyses, monitors and improves web performance at companies and organisations. Apica was founded in 2005 and has since taken a leading position on the Swedish market for web performance tests. Several large Nordic and European corporations are among its clients, in various industries like banking, media, healthcare, insurance and logistics.

Apica has sales offices in Britain and the USA, but the company intends to speed up its global expansion, and e.g. offer load test services all over the world. Part of the newly injected venture capital will be used for this. In addition, Apica wants to strengthen its leading market position in Sweden, and increase its marketing and sales functions and activities.

ALMI Invest and KTH Chalmers Capital each invest SEK 4.5m in a private placement.

ALMI Invest is a venture capital company which invests in Swedish companies with exciting, scalable business models and motivated entrepreneurs. ALMI Invest consists of seven regionally based venture capital funds, all with local offices and experienced local investment managers. ALMI Invest manages a total of SEK 1 billion.

KTH Chalmers Capital assists exceptional entrepreneurs who have interesting technologies and attractive business models and are in the early phases of their company development. KTH Chalmers Capital has EUR 30m under management.
