English Football Club on Danish Hands

Fodboldselskabet A/S, owned by 380 Danish shareholders and football enthusiasts, has become the majority shareholder of the London-based football club Croydon Athletic FC after acquiring 51% of the club shares on Wednesday.

Wednesday saw an excited Chairman of Fodboldselskabet A/S sign the final agreement between the involved parts, securing Fodboldselskabet A/S 51 percent of the shares in the London-based football club, Croydon Athletic FC.

“This is a dream come true. We have been working incredibly hard to realise our goal of co-owning and running Croydon Athletic FC," Chairman of Fodboldselskabet, Palle Katring-Rasmussen said.

“It is amazing to see our hard work pay off, and I guess you could say that Christmas has come early for us this year." he added.

Mutual Excitement

Mazhar Majeed, CEO and former majority shareholder of Croydon Athletic, similarly warmly welcomed the new partnership with Fodboldselskabet A/S.

“I am looking forward to working together with Fodboldselskabet and the gifted and passionate people behind it," Majeed said.

“I am confident that this will be a great success, as Fodboldselskabet has demonstrated over and over again that it is a serious partner, who has put a great deal of work into the deal." he said.

Big Potential

The first goal for Fodboldselskabet A/S is now to secure that Croydon Athletic FC will survive the current season in the Ryman League Premier Division. Further on, the aim is that the club is to proceed into the higher English leagues and divisions.

“We have prepared well for this task, and we are already in contact with several potential players and sponsors, both in Denmark and England," Katring-Rasmussen revealed.

“We have 380 passionate shareholders, which means that we have a lot of resources and a significant network of relevant and useful people who are ready to help us progress. We see a huge unfulfilled potential in Croydon Athletic FC, and we are very much looking forward to realise this potential as we begin working together with the current owners." he added.

Croydon Athletic FC recently ascended into the seventh best league in England and is currently two points away from securing its survival.

Fodboldselskabet A/S is presently raising further funds for the project by issuing shares. Shares are available until December 2nd and can be acquired for DKK 1,000 or roughly £120 per share.
