Technology Helps Indie Writers to Revolutionize the Book Industry

43% of all print books published in the US were self-published last year. Thanks to technology, indie authors have direct access to market and the "iDeas for writing" app is coming for helping them to achieve their dream.

According Bowker, the company that manages information for books published in the U.S., the number of self-published books produced annually has nearly tripled since 2006. Thanks to technology, self-publishing is now accessible, it is getting easier. The people from Literautas Project believe that writing should be easier too, so they have just released the new version of “iDeas for Writing", a mobile app designed to beat writer’s block.

The app has been developed for people who enjoy writing and it has many writing exercises and ideas generators. It is available on the App Store for iPhone, iPad and iPod Touch. Within the next months, the app developers will release it for Android.

"The app writing techniques are similar to the ones that I use when I start writing, when I want to overcome the fear to blank page or get stuck facing a difficult scene." said Angel de la Cruz, author of the screenplay of “The Living Forest", pre-selected for the Oscars for Best Animation Feature Film. "Now it is going to be much easier for me. I will use the app and I will recommend it to my students of screenwriting classes."

The Literautas Project began almost a year ago promoted by writer Iria Lopez Teijeiro. Its purpose is to promote writing through several initiatives, such as its blog, its writing workshops or the “iDeas for Writing" app.
