The European Association of Fashion Retailers elects new president

BRUSSELS, Belgium, October 2013 -- AEDT, the European Association of Fashion Retailers, has elected Mr. Bernard Morvan as new President.

At its General Assembly on the 28th of October 2013, AEDT has unanimously elected Mr. Bernard Morvan as president for a term of three years. Mr. Morvan brings a wealth of experience to the role, having worked in the retail arena as a tradesman and a representative for more than 35 years. He joins AEDT from his position as President at the French Retailers’ organisation Fédération Nationale de l’Habillement. Mr. Morvan appreciated very much AEDT members’ confidence and underlined that: “It’s a great pleasure and an honour to be elected as President of AEDT. It’s an opportunity to use my professional skills to serve the interests of the European Fashion retailers". In his first presidential address, he set out a number of key objectives for his presidential term, including the will to continue to build strong, positive relationships – both within and outside the organization – ensuring the members’ views and priorities are effectively communicated.

Mr. Morvan succeeds Mrs. Betty van Arenthals who was President of AEDT since June 2005. Her tenure at AEDT is regarded as a success; she established the association as the fashion retail advocate and confronted the European Institutions with the important role of entrepreneurs – and in particular the independent fashion retailers – in the European economic area. Mrs. van Arenthals will continue in her role as President of Eurocommerce SME Committee.

AEDT is also delighted to announce that Mikael Sandström, Sigi Uetz, Etienne Djelloul, and Femke den Hartog were elected as Senior Board members.
