Modulex set for global growth

Modulex is the world’s leading provider of signage, visual branding and wayfinding solutions. The group’s management has now pledged to triple turnover within five years.

Rebranding is on the rise, not least for the world’s multinational corporations. This growth is keeping Modulex busy replacing exterior signage, interior signs, environmental graphics and digital signage at companies the world over.

Modulex CEO Søren Bendt is convinced that the current growth will grow even stronger: “Very few of even large multinational companies have their own rebranding departments," says Søren Bendt, who explains that the highly specialised nature of rebranding work leads most companies to turn to external suppliers for help.

Modulex’s Brand On business unit is one of the platforms that are generating growth for the group. “At Brand On, we’ve gathered nearly a half century’s experience in managing complex brand roll-outs," Søren Bendt explains.

The Finish paper manufacturer Stora Enso is one of the unit’s clients, and they recently asked Brand On to rebrand 345 locations in 39 countries – all at the same time.

The design agency for the project was N2. “We managed everything from production and sourcing to shipping and installing the signs and other design elements, while N2 was free to concentrate on the creative work," Søren Bendt explains.

Modulex has the greatest global reach of anyone in the market, and the company’s projects included hospitals, hotels, company headquarters, shopping centres, schools and public buildings.

The company works closely with international branding agencies, interior designers and architects. “We often get involved early on in the project, so that wayfinding, visual branding, signage and environmental graphics form an integrated part of the complete solution, instead of an “add-on", says Søren Bendt.

He points out that Modulex doesn’t just sell off-the-shelf products. “We provide whatever solution the customer needs – according to the customers desired product quality and level of budget", says Søren Bendt.

The company’s clients include Microsoft, Nokia, Barclays, Coca Cola and Marriott.

The ambitions are supported by a new visual identity of Modulex. “The fact that we often work with international project means that we also require a modern, international identity," Søren Bendt says. “That’s why we carried out a revitalisation project on our own brand."

The rebranding of Modulex with its greater focus on Brand On was initiated by the company’s owners, who see strong growth – also through acquisitions – in the company’s future. “The signage industry will experience heavy consolidation, and we keep a close eye on companies around the world that we can partner with or even acquire. Companies that can augment our own product range and project work. We’ve set ambitious goals and expect to triple the group’s turnover within the next five years," Søren Bendt concludes.
